Home Port Advantages For Cruise Lines

2009 has just begun, but even now the cruise lines are reconfiguring their 2009 and 2010 sailings. These changes are being brought on by the economy, the airlines having few seats at higher costs and people generally not wanting to travel too far from home – when traveling away from home.

What that means is, that there are now going to be more ships available to sail out of  U.S. Ports vs. South America, Europe and Asia departures.

To name just a few: Royal Caribbean is increasing sailings from San Diego, CA; Carnival Cruise Lines now offer more sailings out of Tampa and Miami, FL; New Orleans, LA; Baltimore, MD and Houston, TX.

More ships, in more ports, close to home so more people can travel away from home. Just another way the economy is actually helping people to be able to still take a vacation this coming year. With rates at an all time low, cruising from our own back yard will be a treat for many of us and even more affordable since we won’t have to deal with the airfare cost or all those nice TSA people at the airports.
