The Department of State and Homeland Security announced the final date requirement when it is absolutely necessary to have a passport to travel anywhere outside of the USA.
Currently the requirements are that two forms of identification are needed to travel to locations in Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. As of June 1, 2009 all travelers via, air, land or sea must have the required passports or entry to the locations will be denied.
Passports are already required for all other foreign destinations except Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. Passport applications and requirements can be found on the State Department web site at www.State.gov/passport
