NCL to the rescue of stranded boaters

I just read a news story that warmed my heart about NCL (Norwegian Cruise Lines). In this day and age it is rare to hear of a kindness being extended by a large corporation like NCL. That is why I think that this story struck a chord with me. Now maybe the larger kudos should go to the Captain of the NCL ship the Dawn and his crew but, I think overall he and his crew would still have to answer to their corporate office.

It was reported that on June 30th, 2008 in less than 12 hours apart, the staff and crew of the Norwegian Dawn resuced not one stranded sailor but two sailors on two seperate boats, while sailing off the east coast while carrying their own passengers to their cruise vacation in Bermuda. The Coast Guard contacted the Norwegian Dawn off the coast near Cape Cod to assist with a rescue and then again within 12 hours off the coast of New York.

I applaud the crew of this ship, who went to help of these two people in need and all their efforts with them braving the same bad weather and rough seas that put these two people in danger in the first place. What a wonderful action for this ship to lend a hand and then also treat these peoples medical needs as well. With a ship full of passengers, this Captain and this cruise line could have responded that they were not able to assist these two boaters in need. Instead they accepted the call, took action and offered a wonderful humanitarian action.

Now a days I hear people complain about large companies lack of customer service and not caring about people. This is apparently not true with NCL. By this ships crews actions to save and offer medical assistance this cruise line proves it has a heart and cares more than just the bottom line. Bravo NCL!

I am sure that when all the cruise passengers return home from their cruise vacation on board this voyage that they will have the best stories to tell about “what they did on their summer vacation’.
