Have you ever thought about what would happen if you missed your ship in one of your ports? This happened to me and 2 other people I was with, when we were docked in Cozumel, Mexico. All three of us forgot to change our watches to ship board time, so we arrived back to the pier at what we thought was 1 hour early, only to see that our ship was moving away from the pier.

The cruise line rep at the pier got us on the harbor masters small boat. On this small vessel, we stood on the roof of the boat, as the ship was pulling away from the pier, with the small boat pulled up alongside of the ship and we literary jumped into one of the large side doors of the ship, after a rope had been tied around our waists and life vests. All three of us jumped from the top of the harbor masters small boat into the cruise ship – while both were moving. Imagine the waves the large ship was making, so the small ship was bobbing up and down on those.

All the while it would seem the entire ships passengers were watching us from their balconies and from the top decks of the ship. Everywhere we went for the rest of the cruise we kept hearing people talk about what they had witnessed.

Lesson learned? ALWAYS follow ship board time!

Well Taylor Sailor and I have been home for a few days now from our wonderful cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Lines ship the Norwegian Pearl. Taylor agrees with me when I say she is a beautiful ship. The artwork painted on the outside of the ship is just a tease for all the exciting things you will see all around the ship itself. Everywhere you turn there is original artwork painted on the outside of the ship, down every hallway, in every public room and even in the staterooms.
We never got lost because we just followed the swimming fish on the cabin hallway carpet that pointed us to the front of the ship. They were delightful and very helpful the first day or two when we were getting acquainted to the Norwegian Pearl.
I took lots and lots of pictures of Taylor Sailor all over the Pearl! While he played shuffle board, while he relaxed in Spinnaker lounge, while he played chess, or practiced his golf swing! He had to rest while I went on my shore excursions to Cozumel and Grand Cayman Island because he had just worn himself out touring all of the ship, meeting his hundreds of new friends and enjoying all the edible delights in all the restaurants on board or watching all the wonderful live shows or dancing his nights away!
Every one of the staff I met on the Pearl smiled and said hello, even if I didn’t have Taylor Sailor in my arms. The ship was immaculate everywhere, not just in some places – everywhere and I never saw anyone cleaning …. They must have cleaning fairies that come out while we were sleeping! Taylor Sailor could sit anywhere and not worry about getting his perfect white sailor suit dirty.
Needless to say Taylor Sailor and I had a great time onboard the Norwegian Pearl. We both loved walking all over the ship and trying all her freestyle dining but I think my favorite meal was the midnight chocolate buffet! The selection of chocolate was awesome but the chocolate sculptures were just downright amazing! But all the signs said we were not allowed to eat those, they were for display only (awwww shucks!).
